It's first of March and I'm again getting ready for a retreat. Going to 12 Pines in Huntsville this time. Some of the ladies were at the last retreat but not all. It should be fun. I have been really working over the last few weeks and feel good about my progress. I'm really close to having Urban Owls completed. My goal is to finish it at retreat. Well finish the piecing. I still have the wool applique to do. That will take some time. I want to applique it then add lots of embroidery around and on top of each of the pieces of wool felt. It's a Wendy Williams design and that's what she does. I will also put the finishing touches on the Kaffe Mystery for last year. I have the blocks done but saved the assembly for retreat. Just got back to this entry. I leave today for the retreat. I have added the applique blocks for my Lotus quilt to my project pile. I hope to spend at least one day working on these blocks. I have the quilt star done and the applique blo...

It's Wednesday and I am gearing up for a retreat with the Bumblin' Bees in Huntsville. The weather for this weekend will be miserable but I'll be stitching so won't care. I'm planning on doing applique prep as well as some stitching on Urban Owls. The center block has wool flowers so I will applique then add embroidery stitches. The embroidery really brings the wool to life. The ladies of Let It Bee started Millie Stars this month. Three of the ladies are newcomers to EPP so I am doing a little teaching to get them started. We have selected the fabric which is the most difficult part with this kind of design. But have to do this each month.

It's February 3 and I have been really working in my sewing room. I finished a new top. The pattern is Scrap Petal Garden. I still have to do the machine applique but am pleased with the results so far. I also managed to finish the first block in Marshall, a mystery quilt by Jen Kingwell thru Quiltmania magazine. It was a challenge but that is what I seem to thrive on these days. Wanda and Leigh are doing it also. I talked them into it. Thinking they are not feeling comfortable with the whole thing. Next weekend starts the Facebook class on the Royal Huntress by Karlee Porter. I bought the background at the sale at All Around The Block this week. Had a great day with Julie, Nancy and Janet. Always fun to go fabric shopping with the girls! Anyway I have to get the back made and the quilt sandwich prepared this week so I can keep up with the class. Also been working on Urban Owls, a Wendy Williams design. Worked on it at the retreat with the Bumbling Bees last month. ...

This is my first post. It's a new year and I decided that a new undertaking was in order. I am an avid quilter and have been for over 40 years. I love most forms of quilting but hand applique is my favorite. Hand applique does take more time so I have to fill in with machine pieced quilts if I want to finish more than one quilt a year. I am a member of several bees and guilds and have made many friends this way. We love to go on retreats where we sew, eat, laugh and sleep. Normally others do the cooking so we don't have to take time out from sewing. If you haven't been on a quilting retreat and you quilt I highly recommend you do that for yourself this year. A retreat every month is my goal! I currently have too many projects going and so I need to prioritize if I am to get anything done. I have undertaken two new BOMs for this year with quilting friends which will stretch the limits of the time I have available. I try to quilt 9 to 5 everyday if I am at home. My full...
